I refer you to the gentleman on my right...

My State Farm agent, Stan Granger, invited me to a referral group luncheon today. Now, if you're not familiar with the idea, the gist is for you to refer business to other members of the group, they refer business back to you. Essentially, using word of mouth in the community as a way to generate leads & eventually, business.

Interesting problem arose quickly: there were two men from similar businesses in the room. That gave me a great opportunity to use the example of branding to explain what we do here at BigMouthAudio.com. Both do similar things, for similar prices...so why should I choose one over the other? As it turns out, they each have their own angles on how to do the job, in effect, they serve different masters. Now, their job is to exploit those differences and use them as their brand: for example, one guy could be the Business To Business company, the other could be the residential service provider.

The trick, will be to find a niche then make sure you're percieved as the top rung of that ladder.

Do that & you're in the money.
