Season Points wrapup; TOP FIVE!

Mooresville, NC

38 drivers officially contested the NASA Southeast Spec Miata Championship for 2008. And while the SaySomethingImportant.com Spec Miata didn't run every race, the team did admirably. As they say, if you can't finish first, finish consistently...and the 88 car did.

Driver John Hammer says "We made the most out of a limited season; I knew we'd only be out for 8 or 9 races so we tuned the car conservatively." That paid off with solid points finishes in every race. "It was exciting; we ran our first full wet race (2nd fastest in practice, qualified 3rd!) and I had my first metal-on-metal contact after all these years of racing. To be honest, I'm bummed we couldn't sneak in one more weekend; the extra points would have moved us past Steve (Jones) for fourth overall. Still, you won't hear me complaining about a Top Five finish for the season!"

In the off season, the team will perform routine maintenance to the car, update the tires (which are changing for '09) and even contemplate the proposal of a "sub-class" within Spec Miata that could give them a more level playing field against other teams. Stay tuned for details!

Which Big Mouth is on national TV?! That's right, THIS big mouth!

While I've spent more than 20 years in the broadcasting, creative and marketing industry...I've also had a passion for motorsports for many years. Earlier this year, I was out in California to do an event for the new Dodge Challenger SRT8 that featured music, TV & movie celebrities.

Well, I was recently contacted by the production team for Snoop Dogg's Father Hood, the Hip Hop star's reality show on E! television. They're going to use some footage of me on the show & I had to sign the release form!

Well, I heard today that the promos are now running for the second season of Father Hood & I'm on them! I don't know when the particular episode will run, but I have now set my DVR to record the season.

So, keep your eyes out when watching E!, and if you see a guy who looks an awful lot like Hammer, it's because it IS Hammer!
